Latin
So, I've been pretending to learn Latin while at University and I'm wondering if anyone here knows the language. If so, do you have any tips for mastering?
For me, I figure one thing out and then stumble with everything else. Rinse and repeat. Haha!!! I've never paid so close attention to case or form before in my life.

I'm taking it right now and all the cases and the declensions are owning me. I've never had much problem with verb forms, so that's not a problem. But I can't remember what case a word is, or what the endings are. It's frustrating. I wish I could help. D:

Ah, see, I didn't pay one bit of attention in French, so I never bothered learning what verb forms even were in the three years I stumbled through. Real shame at that.
Anyway, I have my final exam on the 17th of the month. The date is later than I wanted to be required to stay in DC, but it gives me a good deal of time to put in solid effort and figure everything out for a healthy attempt. I think I have a little bit of a strategy now worked out that will help me to figure out some of the basics I didn't catch onto earlier in the semester.

I can relate to the stumbling, as I'm trying my hand at German. Usually what I will do is check out grammar books from the library and try to read through them the best I can (and like you, I figure one thing out but stumble with the rest), and from time to time I may drop a few bucks for some other books and occassionally I'll use flash card software in conjunction with a German-English dictionary and a 501 Verbs book for vocabulary-building. One of my friends at school suggested that I try starting out with something more basic like children's books or phonics games to ease into it. I'd probably check around the web for something like that. There's bound to be something like that for Latin.
Rosetta Stone is really good to use for speaking and pronunciation. That might be something worth looking in to. Only bad thing about it is that is doesn't help much with grammar and it's a bit expensive...unless perhaps you have other ways of obtaining it. ![]() I don't really know if this will be of any help, but I stumbled upon this site [Omniglot] a while back. It's got some interesting articles as well as resources. Hope this helps some. Good luck to you with Latin!
